Scope & Objective of the course: The course is intended to provide a general concept in the dimensions of disasters caused by nature beyond human control as well as the disasters and environmental hazards induced by human activities with emphasis on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.


Course Outcome: At the end of the course, the students will able to do the following:

i. Explain disaster management theory (cycle, phases, risk, crisis, emergency, disasters, resilience)

ii. Compare hazards, disasters, and associated natural phenomena and their inter-relationships, causes, and their effects - developing humanitarian Assistance before and after a disaster.

iii. Compare anthropogenic hazards, disasters, and associated activities and their interrelationships of the subsystems - Green House Effect, Global warming, Causes and their effects, and development of humanitarian assistance before and after a disaster.

iv. Apply knowledge about existing global frameworks and existing agreements and the role of the community in successful Disaster Risk Reduction.
