Course Objective: The course is designed to let the students understand the molecular basis immunity and immune cells function. This course will discuss about the immunoglobulins, complement proteins, TCR and other similar markers, MHC/ HLA genes and antigenic structure, ABO and other grouping systems, tumor antigens.
Course Outcome: Students will able to
-          Understand the genetic basis of variation in immunoglobulin molecules and its function.
-          Understand the activation of B and T lymphocytes and their immune effectors mechanism.
-          Understand the genetic basis of variation in MHC molecules and their functions in immunity.
-          Understand and analyze the immunology of organ transplantation and graft vs. host reaction.
-          Understand and analyze the basis of autoimmune and immune-deficiency disorder.
-          Understand and analyze the biology of tumor antigen and anti-tumor immunity.
-          Understand and analyze the genetic basis of various blood groups and clinical relevance.
-          Understand the immune functions and will be able to apply the knowledge in solving practical issues.
