Course objective:

The emission and absorption of light from a system depends on their energy levels. The interaction between light and matter gives rise to different fascinating phenomenon. The position of the energy level and the components of the system determine the frequency of a laser source. Electron and nuclear interaction also plays an important role in the behavior of the material.

 Course outcome:

After the completion of this course, students will be able to explain

a.       Hydrogen spectra and the different components of the spectra

b.      Effect of high velocity of electron on the spectra.

c.       Mechanism of Neon light.

d.      Effect of nuclear vibration on the energy level of a diatomic molecule.

e.       Raman and infrared spectroscopy

f.       Principle of Laser and different types of laser.
