Course objective

General Physics II course aims at developing an understanding of the basics of modern physics, origin and principles of quantum theory, solid state physics as well as atomic and molecular physics and the applications of concepts to problems of practical interest. Quantum theory is dealt with in the first part of the course. Thereafter, the concepts of atomic and molecular physics are discussed. The second part of the course deals with solid state physics and nuclear physics to ensure the understanding of modern physics.

Course outcome

After completion of this course, students will

(a) This subject covers basic particles and waves, basic formulations and applications to solve quantum mechanical problems. Students get to learn the basics of formalism and Quantum language.

(b) This subject provides students with a complete training of using specific tools to understand modern Atomic and molecular Physics.

(c) This subject focuses on the crystal structure, elementary properties of matter, and electrical properties of different materials. This provides students with a valuable overview of fundamental applications of the Physics of solids.

(d) This subject provides a clear idea about the modern concepts of nuclear physics and different nuclear models.
